The Rasa Lila

On the full moon of Sharad Purnima, Krishna played his flute in the forest by the Yamuna. The gopis left their homes and duties and came, drawn by a sound that answered something older than obligation.

When pride touched them, he vanished; they searched the forest, singing his name, until longing itself became their worship. Then he returned and multiplied himself, so that each gopi danced with Krishna alone.

Radha stands at the centre of this dance — not as one among many but as devotion itself, the love that Krishna returns most fully.
