History & significance
When Krishna persuaded Braj to worship the hill rather than Indra, the angry rain god sent a seven-day deluge; Krishna raised Govardhan as an umbrella.
The hill itself is worshipped as Giriraj Ji — no idol is needed, and devotees offer milk and sweets directly to its stones.
The 21-km parikrama passes Radha Kund, Kusum Sarovar and Manasi Ganga, and is often completed barefoot or by dandavat prostration.
